The ESRF is located on the EPN Campus (European Photon and Neutron campus) near the centre of Grenoble and easily accessible by environmentally-friendly transports. The campus is part of the GIANT area, which hosts innovative industries, educational institutes, and research laboratories amid green spaces and scenic mountains.

It houses numerous cutting-edge firms, particularly in microelectronics and software, along with renowned research and educational institutions like Université Grenoble Alpes, Grenoble INP, and Grenoble Ecole de Management. A rich cultural heritage

Grenoble has a rich historical heritage and leads an ambitious cultural policy. The metropolitan area has multiple museums, theatres, concert halls and hosts many festivals every year. Several cinemas offer a large number of films, in English especially.

International schooling

There are several primary and secondary schools with international sections in Grenoble.

In close proximity to the ESRF, the Cité Scolaire Internationale is a French public secondary school that teaches the official French curriculum and offers additional language and history curricula available in German, English, Italian, Spanish, Portuguese and Arabic. Located in the same Building, the American School of Grenoble is a private secondary school that offers courses inspired by the US education system.

Childcare

Several possibilities exist for childcare in France, depending on whether a full-time, part-time, afterschool or babysitting solution is needed. The cost of childcare provided by state-registered professionals is calculated depending on the parents’ income.
