ID29 The EBS flagship project EBSL8 consisted of the complete rebuilding of ID29 (below right) into a newly dedicated facility for macromolecular serial crystallography at room temperature for time-resolved studies, and has now started user operation. The new end station, which includes the latest developments in terms of diffractometer, timing system and detector technologies, can accommodate different sample delivery systems.
ID06-HXM The beamline will be shut down in December 2022 to move the instrument to its new beamline, ID03, which is expected to open to external users (academic and industrial) in March 2024. Proposals can be submitted for the 11 September 2023 deadline (scheduling period 2024/I).
ID19 For single-bunch X-ray imaging with MHz acquisition rate, a new indirect detector microscope (below) has been commissioned which offers up to 10 times higher spatial resolution.
ID15B A new set of aluminium lenses manufactured by the ESRF optics group has been installed on the high-pressure diffraction beamline. The lenses are of excellent quality. They focus the beam to 1 µm(v) x 2 µm(h) at the sample position with a very high flux.
ID17 From June to October 2022, a call for Expressions of Interest was open to determine the future best use of the biomedical-imaging, radiation-biology and radiation-therapy beamline. Suggestions from the user community are now being evaluated and only ongoing Long Term proposals and/or carried- forward experiments will run on this beamline in the course of 2023-I.
BM05 BM05 is a 2-pole wiggler beamline equipped for white beam propagation phase contrast X-ray tomography of small and medium samples. It is now open at 50% for our public programme.
ID24-HPLF1 The high-power laser is operational at 50 J in user mode. First official experiments were successfully performed in June and July, combining, for the first time, shock waves with simultaneous XAS and VISAR (Velocity Interferometer System for Any Reflector) acquisitions.
