The Swiss-Norwegian Foundation for Research with X-rays (SNX) is a non-profit organization responsible for the operation, upgrading and scientific exploitation of the BM01 and BM31 beamlines at the European Synchrotron Radiation facility (ESRF), Grenoble. For the operation of these Swiss-Norwegian Beam Lines (SNBL) and relevant coordination of scientific activities, we seek to recruit the Beamline Director.
With the main tasks:
- To be responsible for the overall daily operations of the Swiss-Norwegian Beam Lines (SNBL) in understanding with the SNX Council and according to guidelines set by ESRF for operation of CRGs
- To direct all the personnel connected to the operation of the SNBL
- To establish job descriptions for all relevant posts at SNBL, in understanding with the SNX Council
- To prepare for consideration by the SNX Council; (i) activity reports of the SNBL and of the SNX Foundation; (ii) annual, medium- and long-term budgets and (iii) action plans for beam line upgrades, collaborations and more
- To organise user support at SNBL
- To represent SNBL to the outside world, the scientific community and industry, to ESRF management and other beam lines at ESRF
- To strengthen interactions and scientific collaborations between SNBL scientists and Swiss and Norwegian partner institutions
- To provide input and support to proposals for operation and investments
