The MECASENS VIII conference will run from 30 September to 2 October. This essential conference on mechanical stress evaluation will focus on the following key topics:

• Stress evaluation using neutrons, synchrotron radiation and X-rays;
• Development of measurement methods and instrumentation;
• Material processing and residual stresses;
• Influence of residual stresses on physical and mechanical properties of materials and components;
• Measurement and assessment of residual microstresses and intergranular stresses;
• Residual strains and stresses in complex materials, e.g. multiphase materials and biomaterials;
• Residual stresses in thin films and microcomponents;
• Industrial applications of residual stress analyses using neutrons, synchrotron  radiation and X-rays; and
• Complementary techniques for residual stress measurements.

In addition, MECASENS VIII will be hosting Tutorial days on the 28 and 29 September. This event aims at both young researchers and those new to diffraction techniques through a series of lectures by an international panel of experts. Open to up to 50 participants !
