ESRF Newsletter: Discovering our planet

The French author Jules Verne “travelled” to the centre of the Earth in his 1864 book, but what he imagined doesn’t have much to do with what scientists really believe now. The ESRF is making it easier for researchers to reproduce in the laboratory the conditions found in the Earth’s interior, and the new issue of the Newsletter is partly dedicated to this.

However, it is not only the deepest parts of our planet that interest researchers. In the Newsletter, articles focus on experiments carried out at the ESRF by scientists from all over the world on various environmental matters.
