First beamtime for the Human Organ Atlas Hub September marked the launch of The Human Organ Atlas Hub (HOAHub), with the first beamtime experiments beginning at the ESRF. Led by UCL, and based on the capabilities of EBS, this project aims to strengthen international scientific collaboration to study human organs in unprecedented detail. This Hub is part of the new access models implemented at the ESRF to facilitate access for researchers working in fields of key societal impact.
ESRF scientist receives EHPRG award At the 60th European High Pressure Research Group (EHPRG) International Conference on High Pressure Research held in Edinburgh, UK, in July, ID24/BM23 scientist Jean-Alexis Hernandez received the EHPRG award for his theoretical, experimental and instrumental contributions to planetary science, for the description of planetary compounds at extreme conditions of pressure and temperature, in particular planetary ices (water, C-H-N-O mixtures) and silicates.
ESRF researcher wins French Academy of Sciences prize Alain Manceau, ESRF specialist in the structure and surface reactivity of nanodivided minerals and organic matter, was awarded the Léon Lutaud prize and the Georges Millot medal from the French Academy of Sciences. He is also the recipient of an ERC Advanced Grant studying Rare Earth Elements.
Israel renews association with the ESRF In November, in a ceremony after the ESRF s 81st Council meeting, Israel renewed its scientific association with the ESRF for another five-year period, with a budget contribution of 1.75%. David Harel, President of the Israeli Academy of Sciences and Humanities, said: The signing of this agreement holds profound significance for the Israeli scientific community, constituting a bright beam of hope for the future.
