KEY CONTACTSDATES FOR THE DIARY
NEWS FROM THE BEAMLINES
Right: Guillaume Morard, chair of the UOC.
ID23-2 A Dectris Eiger 9M has been installed on this dedicated microfocus MX beamline. This new detector provides both higher read-out rates and smaller pixels, the latter of which should greatly improve data from microcrystals.
BM32 A new hutch for the French CRG IF BM32 beamline has been built (during the last 6-month beamline shutdown) and the user programme resumes for the 2023-II scheduling period. The new LaueMAX optics maximising the use of the EBS source will be installed gradually without perturbing the user programme until May 2024.
ID30A-1 A fully automated plate-to-beam service for crystals (from crystal growth to data collection and structure determination) is now running at ID30A-1 thanks to the recent integration of a new EMBL- developed CrystalDirect harvester on the beamline (see right).
ID27 The ruby fluorescence-based pressure measurements within a diamond anvil cell (DAC) are now fully integrated in the beamline computing environment (BLISS). This represents a major step towards pressure control automation for high pressure experiments with a DAC.

BM25 The Spanish CRG beamline BM25-SpLine is updating its detection system with two new Eiger2 X CdTe 1M and one customised Eiger2 X CdTe 2M from Dectris (see below). The acquisition time will be strongly reduced enabling in-situ/ operando XRD experiments.
ID30B Over the last few months, the ID30B team has tested automatic workflows (esrf.fr/MXPressWF) extensively. To augment and support the service of unattended automatic data collection beyond what is mainly covered by MASSIF-1 (but also the other MX beamlines), ID30B will be dedicated to this hands- off service at weekends while running in normal mode during the week (i.e. for either in-person, remote or automatic diffraction data collection).
