Users from non-contracting party countries may obtain beamtime at ESRF either through collaboration with groups from contracting party countries, or in their own right, after peer review, according to the conditions below. In this latter case, beamtime is granted only through management's contingency quota.

There are two conditions under which allocation of beamtime to proposals from only non-contracting party countries is considered:

  • Proposals of exceptional scientific quality;
  • Proposals offering exceptional technical benefits in synchrotron radiation technology, which would be of direct benefit to ESRF and to other synchrotron radiation centres.
