Good practices during the active circulation of SARS-CoV-2

Users who are scheduled to take part in an experiment and who have contracted COVID-19 at the time of the experiment should arrange with their team to be replaced if they are not essential to the experiment, or may contact the beamline scientist to see if it is possible to participate remotely in the experiment or to postpone the experiment to a later date.

If the user cannot be replaced or the experiment cannot be rescheduled, and if the user feels well enough to travel and carry out an experiment, according to the French regulations that the ESRF follows the user can come to the ESRF to carry out their experiment. In this case, they must adopt protective hygiene measures as these are an effective way of preventing respiratory infection by limiting the risk of transmission to those around them, particularly vulnerable people. The user must wear a FFP2 mask and apply the following basic hygiene measures (applicable to all):

•     Wash your hands regularly;
•     Cover your mouth with your arm when coughing and sneezing;
•     Regularly ventilate offices, by opening windows, and clean shared office/beamline tools;
•     Avoid social gatherings such as coffee pauses or shared meals in case of symptoms or doubts of symptoms.

The ESRF provides masks (surgical or FFP2), gel and other protection material to ESRF staff and visitors, available at the Entrance Hall or by contacting the Safety Group.
