Fig. 81: Recrystallisation of a polycrystalline mixture of pure solid O₂ and almost pure solid Ar to form large single-crystals of an Ar(O₂)₃ compound. This evolution as a function of time at constant pressure, observed using monochromatic radiation and image plates, implies a great mobility of the atoms and molecules which is quite unexpected when vacancy mechanisms are excluded.
