Fig. 117: Sequence of Ge K-edge XANES recorded in 120 ms/spectrum during a rapid cooling (~ 40°/s) from the melt: the metal-semiconductor transition appears at about 400°C below the melting point, with the absorption edge gradually shifting towards higher energies (E ~ + 0.8 eV), indicative of the formation of the gap.
