On Site
The EPN site is a protected area: each person on the common ESRF/ILL/EMBL site has to wear a badge.
This badge is given at the site entrance provided the authorization for site entrance has been given.
You will need to produce proof of identification at your arrival, only the following will be accepted:
- National ID card
- Passport
- Residence permit (titre de séjour)
- Driving licence
This badge must be presented to the guards at the site entrance every time you enter the site. The ESRF Experimental Hall and the Central Building are under controlled access outside normal working hours and you will need your badge to open the doors. The badge is valid for the duration of the experiment. The use of the badge is strictly personal. Badges must be worn visibly at all times on site. At the end of your experiment, before you leave the ESRF, you must return your badge and its holder to the site entrance.
The site entrance badge is also used to pay for meals at the ILL/ESRF common restaurant on site.
- Users receiving financial support from the ESRF are given a pre-charged badge: the credit corresponds to the number of meals paid by the ESRF during the period of the experiment.
- Users who do not receive financial support from the ESRF, must charge their badge at the cash desk of the restaurant (in the restaurant entrance hall) before the first meal.
Accomodation
Users invited for experiments are accommodated at the Guesthouse provided the request for accommodation arrangement has been made through the electronic A Form. The Guesthouse is located on site, to the left to the main gate as you enter.
Note: Outside opening hours of the reception, your room key will be given to you at the site entrance.
Meal options
- Breakfast is served in the Guesthouse.
The EPN Science Campus offers several options for other meals:
- The joint ILL / ESRF restaurant on site offering self-service lunch (badge/canteen card) and dinner (badge/canteen card, credit card, cash).
- The onsite cafeteria is located in a satellite building next to the restaurant. Coffee, drinks and food must be consumed outsite.
- Take-away counter, offering a variety of sandwiches, salads, fruits and snacks, etc., from 11:00 am to 13:30 pm (badge/canteen card, or cash).
- Meals on trays at times when the restaurant is closed (by advance arrangement).
- Coffee and snack machines around the ring.
