Downloading data
Data stored on NICE can be downloaded by two methods.
Manual Download
You may use your favorite FTP on Rsync client and the Data Transfer system set up at ESRF. This includes FileZilla or WinSCP, but you may also use command-line utilities such as the rsync Unix command.
This works only for data stored under /data/visitor, and is not well suited for downloads taking more than a few hours. Here is the documentation for using the Data Transfer system. Acessing the documentation from outside ESRF requires you to authenticate using a personal ESRF account.
Automated Download
For downloading larger amounts of data (such as several terabytes), use of an automated download system (handling possible transmission drops for example) is highly recommended.
The ESRF implemented Globus. Here is the documentation for using Globus. Accessing the documentation from outside ESRF requires you to authenticate using a personal ESRF account.
