The open discussion will be an important part of this parallel session. It will be an opportunity to discuss the updated long-term strategies presented in the Directors' reports.

Several further discussion items have been suggested:

  • magnetic fields on ID20 - what's new?
  • multilayers - are we doing all we can?
  • magnetic surface scattering - we don't seem to be doing any at all?
  • what's the next fad after orbital ordering?
  • combination of techniques, in particular in-situ
  • measuring diffraction and XAFS from the sample in the same set-up
