EBS Storage Ring Programme Implementation Event
EBS Storage Ring Programme Implementation Event27 November 2019THIS EVENT IS CANCELLED |
The ESRF-EBS storage ring programme implementation has attracted much attention from the synchrotron scientific and engineering community. In this context, and in view of the foreseen completion of the implementation programme by the end of 2019, the ESRF is pleased to organise the EBS Storage Ring Programme Implementation Event on Wednesday 27th November 2019. This one-day event aims to inform interested scientists and engineers about the different aspects that have enabled the construction of the new EBS storage ring and related accelerator complex.
This event will provide an opportunity for experts from other synchrotrons and laboratories to meet and exchange with their ESRF counterparts on the organisation and implementation of the EBS programme. Particular attention will be given to the activities and technical challenges related to the dismantling of the previous storage ring and the installation of the new one.
The programme will include a plenary session providing a general introduction and overview of the EBS project, outlining the activities such as dismantling, infrastructure, logistics, alignment, safety, installation, tests and hardware commissioning aspects. The plenary part will be followed by parallel sessions dedicated to specific topics (logistics and services, safety, vacuum, magnets, beam dynamics and commissioning, injection, beam position monitoring and feedback, control, power supplies, etc.), aiming at providing the possibility for in-depth discussions among experts. The topics of discussion will be adapted according to the profiles and specific requests of participants, so do not hesitate to specify an area of interest when registering.
The EBS programme will be in the accelerator restart and commissioning phase, and safety procedures do not allow visitors to enter the experimental hall, consequently participants may not have the possibility to visit the storage ring tunnel, but videos and pictures are being prepared to visually inform the event attendees. For reasons of logistics, the ESRF can welcome delegations up to a maximum number of 60-80 people, and therefore wishes to limit delegations from interested laboratories to five people.
Registration
The number of participants being limited to a maximum number of 60, and the programme being finalised in view of the requests of the participants, we would like interested attendees to register as early as possible, and to indicate in the registration form the areas of greater interest, in order to allow the ESRF to finalise the parallel sessions programme.
The deadline for registration is 30th September.
