Debian for Scientific Facilities Days
The ESRF is organizing a 3-day event around Debian to celebrate the transition of the operating system toward Debian6.
This will consist of a sprint, a workshop and a training session.
* Sprint: Sunday June 24th & Tuesday June 26th
* Workshop: Monday June 25th (s. the programme on this page)
* Training: Tuesday June 26th (Limited to 15 people)
The Sprint is about packaging/bug fixing of software relevant to large science facilities, in particular:
- Batch schedulers for HPC (Torque, OAR, Grid-Engine, ...)
- High performance computing libraries: MPI, OpenCL (especially packaging all SDK from AMD, Intel, and NVidia to insure that they can be installed together)
- Scilab/Octave/Python/GDL bugs to be fixed for wheezy
The Sprint is coordinated on the wiki:
http://wiki.debian.org/Sprints/2012/ScienceSprint
The training itself is targeted at software developers:
- good release practices
- Debian packaging itself
The second half of the sprint will take place in a room adjacent to the training room.
