Workshop Secretary:   Myriam Dhez

Scope of the Workshop

The application of inelastic X-ray scattering and nuclear inelastic scattering to the study of phonons in crystalline solids has become nowadays a routinely utilised technique in various areas of condensed matter research. The aim of this workshop is to bring together experimentalists and theoreticians to discuss the contribution of these two techniques with respect to other experimental methods and theoretical approaches in the field of phonon spectroscopy. Furthermore, the workshop shall provide the opportunity to discuss future possibilities and challenges such as studies of systems under extreme conditions, strongly correlated electron systems, phonons in confined geometries, and advanced materials.

The workshop will consist of approximately 20 invited presentations with ample time being reserved for questions and discussion. The workshop is open to all interested.

To optimize the chance for open discussion of the topics, attendance will be limited to 100 participants. Registration will be on a 'first come first served' basis.
