ESRF User Meeting 4-6 February 2019

The 29th ESRF User Meeting will take place at the ESRF from Monday 4 February to Wednesday 6 February 2019. This is a unique opportunity for users to exchange with one another, ESRF staff and ESRF management about their science and ideas, for now and the future.

The User Organisation Committee (UOC) and the ESRF management have prepared a rich and diverse programme, with the plenary session on Tuesday 5 February comprising 4 Keynote Lectures, the Young Scientist Award winner video and talk, user poster clips, a poster session, the Directors’ facility report and an update on the Extremely Brilliant Source (EBS) upgrade project, and user-dedicated sessions consisting of :

* 9 Tutorials for Users, on Monday 4 February, covering a broad range of topics of interest to ESRF users, , including a round-table discussion on "Gender parity in science" (takes place over lunch - buffet provided - to allow users participating in another tutorial to attend), and a meeting on strategies for improving biological sample preservation, complementing the microsymposium on X-ray microscopy in biology,

* 3 User-Dedicated Microsymposia running in parallel on Wednesday 6 February :

  • UDM1. "ID29: Tunable past and time-resolved future"
  • UDM2. "X-ray microscopy in biology: recent applications, challenges and opportunities"
  • UDM3. "Exploiting coherent X-rays at ESRF: robust tools for imaging and dynamics"

The User-Dedicated Microsymposia 2 and 3 will include invited talks from users chosen from a selection of submitted abstracts.
