IFDEPS Virtual Thursdays 2021
International Forum on Detectors for Photon Science
You can find the final program HERE!
and the presentations HERE!
Overview
The IFDEPS Virtual Thursdays is an on-line event to keep in contact detector experts from synchrotron radiation user facilities worldwide, both storage rings and free-electron lasers. It aims to mitigate the difficulties in organising the regular International Forum on Detectors for Photon Science (IFDEPS) whose third edition in 2020 was cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
This new event consisted on one session of three-hours per day during three consecutive Thursdays in March/April 2021. The attendance to this event was restricted to the participating user facilities and their collaborators. Only attendees invited by the facility correspondents were entitled to register.
The event consisted of a series of technical presentations and discussion sessions. The technical presentations included overview reports on recent or ongoing detector related activities at the participating facilities and flash talks on technical matters. This event did not have a pre-defined scientific programme, all the participants could and were encouraged to submit contributions for flash talks on any topic related to the development of new X-ray detectors or related detection technologies for accelerator based on photon source. The final programme was prepared by the IFDEPS organisers and published after the closure of the registration period.
When?
The IFDEPS Virtual Thursdays 2021 consisted of three sessions on March 25th, April 1st and April 8th. All the sessions were three hours long starting at 1 p.m. UTC. The local time of each geographical area was dependent on the particular time zone as presented in the following table. As indicated in the table, there were two different starting times for those areas going through Daylight Saving Time changes in between the weekly sessions.
How?
As in the case of the regular IFDEPS workshops, the main objective of this event was to promote and encourage communication between detector experts from accelerator based photon sources. Therefore, the attendance was restricted to members of the participating facilities and close collaborators from patner laboratories, universities or detector companies. Each facility has been represented by a correspondent person who was entitled to invite a limited number of participants.
Those persons who were explicity invited to participate in the IFDEPS Virtual Thursdays by the facilities correspondents were encouraged to register to the event before registraiton deadline. In addition to filliing in their personal data in the registration form and indicating the inviting facility, they could express theur interest in giving a flash talk during the event.
