Control Hutch

In the control hutch EH2 you’ll spend most of your time during the experiment. All computer equipment used for the control of the experiment and data analysis is gathered here.
Linux Workstaions
The main computer in the EH2 control hutch is the Linux workstation ting.esrf.fr from which the spec application "eh2_exp" and "eh2_optics" are started. All spec commands are typed in the eh2_exp prompt and the data taken are stored in a spec data-file. For more information about spec see the on-line spec manual, or the printed copy posted at the beamline.
RNICE Account
As an official ESRF user you will have an account on the RNICE computer environment (linux). Read more about this in Preparing Your Experiment.
Software
There are several other Linux terminals and PCs available for users at the beamline. Linux workstations tinc and tint are used for the data analysis. They are all connected to the network and can be used to perform on-line data-analysis etc. using programs such as C-plot ( c-plot help-files), PYXPCS, MATLAB, Gnuplot, Origin, Kaleidagraph etc.. The programs belonging to the MS-Office pack are available on the PCs. Specialized software to calculate and fit correlation functions on-line is also running. Network plugs are available for your own computer equipment. Frequently, specialized software is used to control hardware in the experimental hutches, depending on the actual experiment carried out. Printer
The printer is installed in EH2 control room and available from all beamline computers. If you use windows select id10b1w printer.
If you use linux select id10b1u printer.
NIM Electronics
A NIM rack is located next to the TROIKA04 terminal in the TROIKA I. Here are empty slots for your own NIM electronics and the SCA (single channel analyzer) connected to the scintillation detector is also found here. A NIM to TTL converter and a constant fraction discriminator (CFD) is available at the beamline, for other components ask the local contact.
IcePAP Drives
A IcePAP (motordrive) racks are located in the a separate room next to the EH2 control hutch. The IcePAP motor can be disable by turning the little key into "disabled" position. Before connecting or dis-connecting a motor it is IMPORTANT TO DISABLE THE CORRESPONDING IcePAP DRIVER.

Beamline Unattended
When you leave the beamline unattended with the shutter open, it is important to post a message on the "ID10 EH1+EH2" white-board in the hall. However, if the safety form is red (experiment with potential risk) the beamline CANNOT under any circumstances be left unattended (24/24h).
Manuals
Most of the manuals/data-sheets of the in-house hardware are stored in the large black cabinet in the EH2 control hutch. Please help yourself.
