Organisation of the tutorials
Some tutorials can only have a limited amount of participants. You are expected to attend for the full duration of the tutorial you sign up for, so please carefully select the tutorial you wish to attend.
You must register to the desired tutorial via the Registration Form. If you cannot attend your tutorial, please modify your registration so that other scientists may register.
Registration of ESRF Staff for a tutorial
To ensure sufficient space for external participants, ESRF staff will not be able to register to tutorials which have a limited number of participants, until after the registration deadline, and providing there are places left for the desired tutorial.
ESRF staff interested in participating in a tutorial can register to a waiting list on the electronic registration form.

SCOPE
- Remote data collection with EXI and MXCuBE3: Introduction to the use of EXI (Extended ISPyB) and MXCuBE3 to perform remote data collections on the Macromolecular Crystallography beamlines.
- Getting the best out of MASSIF-1 and workflows at the ESRF: Introduction to the fully automated beamline MASSIF-1 and tips and tricks to get the best possible data from your samples. The use of workflows on all the ESRF Macromolecular Crystallography beamlines will also be discussed.

SCOPE
Introduction to the Python library "darfix" for the analysis of DFXM images, either by means of a graphical user interface with Orange, or using a Jupyter notebook. The analysis techniques of "darfix" can also be of interest to other diffraction imaging experiments like rocking curve imaging.

SCOPE
This tutorial provides a general introduction to X-ray absorption spectroscopy (XAS) techniques (mainly XANES and EXAFS). It consists of three different parts:
Introduction to XAS: The Whys, The Whats and The Hows (9:00-12:00)

General introductory lecture that will highlight the physical bases of the XAS methods, the types of structural and electronic information that can be extracted from XAS data, the variety of XAS data analysis approaches, the peculiarities of XAS experimental setups, as well as the recent case-studies carried out at ESRF.
Parallel sessions (13:30-16:30):
- Introduction on XANES, X-ray Raman and valence to core X-ray emission spectroscopy

After a short introduction on XANES, X-ray Raman, and valence to core X-ray Emission spectroscopy, and the specificities of FDMNES, the tutorial will allow to:
- Study the basic use of FDMNES
- Make a series of numerical experiments to see the sensitivity of the spectroscopies to the material geometry and the beam polarization
- Start a case study proposed by the participants
- Introduction on how to do a quantitative XAS data analysis

This tutorial provides an introduction on how to carry out a quantitative analysis of XAS data. A first part will be devoted to data reduction and a second part on strategies of data fitting. Single shell and multishell analysis will be presented making use of the DEMETER ( https://bruceravel.github.io/demeter/ ) program suite.

SCOPE
BLISS (BeamLine Instrumentation Support Software) is the new ESRF experiment control system that is used to run the beamlines following the ESRF Extremely Brilliant Source upgrade (ESRF-EBS). It provides a holistic approach to synchrotron experiments control. The scope of the project goes from hardware control up to the end-user interface. It is built as a modular pile of frameworks, that are orchestrated from one single command-line interface for users to be able to run their own custom scripts.
After a general presentation of the project and the basics explained, a practical session using BLISS will be offered with the aim to help users navigate the software more easily.
