I received my degree from TU Dortmund University in December 2011. During my time as Diploma- and PhD-student, I was supervised by Metin Tolan and Christian Sternemann. In Dortmund, I explored disordered condensed matter under extreme condition using both X-ray absorption and non-resonant X-ray Raman scattering. The main achievement of My thesis was to link absorption edges and spectral shapes thereof to the atomic scale structure of disordered materials under high temperature and high pressure conditions.
I deepened this line of work during a two year post-doctoral employment at the University of Helsinki, where I worked with Keijo Hamalainen and Simo Huotari. Here, I deployed the work started in Dortmund and extended it to cover also theoretical predictions of absorption edges and started developing an interactive data analysis suite for the analysis of non-resonant inelastic X-ray scattering spectroscopy recorded using two dimensional detectors.
I joined the ID20 team in early 2014. Besides the duties of user support, I developed my own line of research. My interests are threefold: 1. I use non-resonant inelastic X-ray scattering to study a wide range of materials from liquids to matter at extreme conditions, mainly aiming at linking spectral properties to atomic scale structure and structural changes, 2. I continue to develop advances in both instrumentation and sample enviroments as well as open-source analysis software, and 3. I am interested in new methods for spectrum calculations and advanced data anlysis including the direct tomography technique.
