7th International Symposium on Diffraction Structural Biology - ISDSB2025

The term “diffraction structural biology” was originally proposed by our senior colleague, Prof. Noriyoshi Sakabe, in collaboration with the 169th Committee of the Japan Society for the Promotion of Science (JSPS) University-Industry Cooperative Research Committee. It was coined to describe structural biology research primarily utilizing diffraction techniques such as X-ray, neutron, electron, and others. 

Since the 1st International Symposium on Diffraction Structural Biology held in Tsukuba in 2003 (ISDSB2003), several ISDSB events have taken place in Tokyo (2007), Paris (2010), Nagoya (2013), Knoxville (2016) and Osaka (2019). The central theme of the series of ISDSB conferences is to bring structural biologists using diffraction, and the scientists using a wide range of other technologies closer together, as well as stimulate the interface of basic research and industrial applications.

The 7th edition of the symposium (ISDSB25) will be held from 5th – 7th May, 2025 at the European Photon and Neutron Science (EPN) Campus, Grenoble, France, and will be hosted by Partnership for Structural Biology (PSB) between the European Molecular Biology Laboratory (EMBL), the European Synchrotron Radiation Facility (ESRF), the Institut Laue Langevin (ILL) and the Institut de Biologie Structurale (IBS)

• Microcrystal Electron Diffraction of Proteins & small molecules
• Neutron Diffraction and Scattering for biological macromolecules

• EPN research institutions and facilities
